Changes to Globecast D2

Changes to Globecast D2

Important Changes to Downlink Frequencies.

GlobeCast Australia continually has started the
process of updating its platform on Optus D2.

Our entire Optus D2 platform will be MPEG4
compatible using the latest Thompson MPEG4/MPEG2 encoders.

On July 30th, 2012 GlobeCast Australia started to
offer clients the option of an MPEG 4 DVB-S or MPEG 2 delivery.

As part of this upgrade to the GC Australia Optus
D2 platform some channels will need to change
frequency as for them the upgrade means a change of transponder is necessary.

In order to assist viewers and clients in
re-tuning set top boxes to the new frequency
channels currently on Optus D2 T7L will be dual
illuminated on their new frequency from July 30th to August 19th.

If you tune to a frequency other than the GC
Australia Master Frequency of 12706 then as
Channels are moving to a combination of Optus D2
T5L & T5U viewers you will need to retune to the
GlobeCast Australia Master Frequency:

* 12706 Mhz, FEC 3/4 to see all GlobeCast Channels.
* Symbol 22.5MC/s.

Channels relocating and dual illuminating on T5L are:
TBN
JCTV/SOAC
CHURCH TV
SBN (Sonlife Broadcasting)
GOD TV
DAYSTAR
INSPIRATION
EWTN
And BVN

Radio Services moving to T5L will be:

Raw FM
Overcomer Radio
Tamil Community Radio
SuperCheap Auto Radio
Kossuth Radio
Glas Hrvatske
Radio services associated with the BVN service.

HRT and NOVA services, along with RTS on (T8U)
will move to Optus D2 T5U and will also be dual illuminated;

GlobeCast is providing website links to assist in
retuning and a Helpdesk Service for Viewers.

For further information see the GlobeCast Australia web site:

http://www.globecast.com.au/

Or call the Helpdesk

Between the hours of 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sydney local time
(5 p.m. and 11 p.m. N.Z. time) call the following numbers:

Within Australia: 1300 231 114
From New Zealand: 0800 451 825

Agree. Or at least sent the correct 16:9 flag so that the channel will automatically select the correct aspect ratio as necessary.

On which channels do you want them to set the 16x9 flags?

Hi Apsattv, BVN and ERT are the main offenders! 4:3 Flags set on the encoders and 16:9 Anamorphic sources in the program. All skinny on my tv. Cheers for the update.

Oh yeah, ERT comes up as UBI. They're getting it wrong, not globecast. Always nice to watch the Greek news. Gia mas!

Definately BVN

Also add the following globcast stations that need a 16:9 flag.
* Duna
* VietFace TV
* God TV also not getting correct 16:9 aspect ratio flag. Programs in 4:3 even skinnier than normal incorrect aspect ratio programs.

Looks like Press TV is the only Globecast channel sending the correct 16:9 flag.

You need to go to C-band and Intelsat8 to do that. Then you can ask yourself "Why isnt our local FTA HD broadcast at this good quality?".

No change at all to any of the stations that are broadcasting the incorrect aspect ratio.

* 3ABN
* BVN
* Duna
* God TV
* VietFace TV

Seems Press TV is the only one with the correct widescreen aspect ratio.

I was thinking of sending an email to Globecast Australia to complain and fix this but I don't know which of the contacts would be the most appropriate.
